The history of music also forms part of cultural history. In addition to the Medieval Soirées at the Castle, there are also special exhibitions and a series of CDs devoted to this subject. The first is a CD dealing with music at the court of the Counts of Tyrol - "Cantores et Spileri - Musik am Hof der Grafen von Tirol" (1220-1420). The CD, which includes some hitherto unknown compositions, was recorded by Ensemble Unicorn under the direction of Michael Posch.
Meanwhile a further CD was produced in collaboration with ORF Vienna. It has the title "Laurin - Epos und Schwank im mittelalterlichen Tirol" (Laurin- epic and comic verse in Medieval Tyrol). It is the first performance of excerpts from the NibelungenLied or Dietrichsage but also includes less well-known works such as the “Weinschwelg” (The wine revels). This is the story of an inveterate drinker who is only saved from bursting by his armour. The booklet includes the original text plus translations into German and Italian.
The third CD is called “Minnesang in Südtirol – Ich sünge gerne hübschen sanc“ and is devoted to the phenomenon of the Minnesang in southern Tyrol. Ensemble Unicorn, under the direction of Michael Posch, is responsible for this recording.
The fourth CD is a Castle Tyrol production in collaboration with the Leonhard Lechner Choir under the direction of Othmar Trenner, with the title “Leonhard Lechner Athesinus”
